A place to get revenge
I have heard the slogan that “/b is not your personal army”, in reference to 4chan’s /b message-board when people have tried to incite them to handle personal battles. What if it were, though? Or what if you could call upon some group of anonymous individuals to settle scores for you online or in real life? For a fee, of course, with the occasional, pro bono job. There are a lot of vindictive people in the world, if you could make the possibly-illegal aspects of this less threatening to the ordinary person, then I am pretty sure it be very successful. Imagine it as a Craigslist for grudges.
A place to learn stuff from the real basics
Geeks and “experts” are the worst people to teach anything, and pretty much everything about learning on the Internet is by somebody who lives their life in the subject. They assume foreknowledge, don’t know how to not assume foreknowledge. If you want to learn anything from a position of total ignorance, you want to go to somebody who is fairly new at it, and they don’t make tutorials. People who have been doing stuff for a long time usually fall into jargon and concepts that they think everybody knows, and they like to gloss over shit that takes a little bit of concentration and study to figure out for the newbie. For example, you don’t teach a new cook with terms like “julienne” and “caramelize”. You need to assume that you are dealing with a 5 year-old, and then let them set the tone of the lesson.
A place that you can rely on for for super casual hook-ups
You ever saw the movie Deception With Ewan McGregor and Hugh Jackman? If you didn’t don’t bother, it’s a shitty movie, but it does have an interesting concept buried within the crappy plot: a phone service that allows you to get laid whenever you want. You simply dial a number and get laid with somebody who also wants to get laid. No names, no strings, no bullshit, no practical jokers or trolls or rapists. You get what you want every time. You find a way where people can be guaranteed to put out and where they can keep their identities hidden and feel safe, and you are bound to have a profitable business.
The ability to smell things online
This would kill porn for all but the hard core sex-addict (especially the anal stuff), which might actually make it profitable again, and it would make food sites as popular as porn was. It would be a pretty dramatic shift for most of us, seeing as monitors and screens have been part of modern life for the las couple of generations. We are used to seeing and hearing, but if we could smell, the world would change.
